Welcome to Opening Day!

Our Hawaii AJA Memorial Baseball League will officially begin this weekend, Sunday, December 2nd, at Wong Stadium in Hilo.  We will begin with opening ceremonies at 10 am followed by the first game of the season between the Corsairs and the Defending Keaukaha Warriors.  We have three teams this season.  The three teams are the defending champions, Keaukaha Warriors managed by Bo Saiki and coached by Keith Aoki and Chad Canda, the Waiakea Pirates managed by Shaye Miura and coached by Onan Masaoka and the Corsairs managed by Hito Oshiro and coached by Dennis Sagawa.  League play will a single game every Sunday at 10:00 am and a best of three play-off series between the two top teams after the regular league play to determine the league championship.

We will present the 2012 team championship award to the Keaukaha Warriors followed by the following individual winners during the opening ceremonies.  They are as follows:  RBI Champion….Kodi Medeiros with 12 from the former Legends, Batting champion…..Avery Kagawa, .553, and League MVP….Cortney Arruda, both from the Keaukaha Warriors.  BJ Soriano, Choir Director and Activity Coordinator of the Honpa Hongwanji Hilo Betsuin, will sing the National Anthem and Hawaii Ponoi.  Throwing the Ceremonial First Pitch will a representative from Big Island Toyota, one of our great sponsors.  Wally Oki is ceremony chairperson while Curtis Chong, MC.
