Salcedo’s Walk-Off Gives Waipahu Victory Over Pearl City
Waipahu took their game in dramatic walk-off fashion, thanks to a walk-off single at the end of the game to topple Pearl City. The game was tied at three with Waipahu batting in the bottom of the ninth when Logan Salcedo singled on a 1-1 count, scoring one run.
Pearl City fired up the offense in the second inning. Pearl City scored one run when Cory Yuh doubled.
In the bottom of the eighth inning, Waipahu tied things up at three when Kaiana Eldredge drew a walk, scoring one run.
David Torigoe pitched Waipahu to victory. The hurler allowed two hits and zero runs over two innings, striking out one. Shaun Kiriu, Trayson Kubo, and Kyle Sugawa all put in work in relief out of the bullpen, steering their team towards the victory.
Carson Okada took the loss for Pearl City. Okada lasted three innings, allowing seven hits and three runs while striking out two.
Daven Hermosura started the game for Pearl City. The pitcher went five innings, allowing one run on three hits, striking out four and walking zero Kaipo Paiva started the game for Waipahu. The pitcher allowed two hits and one run over two innings, striking out one
Waipahu had ten hits in the game. Trey Yukumoto, Salcedo, and Justin Protacio each managed multiple hits for Waipahu. Protacio, Salcedo, and Yukumoto all had two hits to lead Waipahu.
Pearl City totaled nine hits in the game. Yuh and Christopher Goya all managed multiple hits for Pearl City . Yuh led Pearl City with three hits in four at bats. Pearl City AJA sure-handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error. Austyn Nagamine had the most chances in the field with six.
