Waialae Captures Lead Early To Defeat McCully

McCully watched the game slip away early and couldn’t recover in a 7-3 loss to Waialae on Thursday. Waialae scored on a single by Kyle Watase in the first inning, a single by Chris Cannon, Jr. in the second inning, a fielder’s choice by Jordan Murai in the second inning, a single by Kimo Wilinski in the second inning, and a triple by Watase in the second inning.

Waialae got things moving in the first inning. Watase drove in one when Watase singled.

Waialae scored four runs in the second inning. Waialae ‘s big inning was driven by singles by Cannon, Jr. and Wilinski, a triple by Watase, and a fielder’s choice by Murai.

Gavin Okada led the Waialae to victory on the pitcher’s mound. The hurler surrendered three runs on eight hits over eight innings, striking out 11.

Al Estes took the loss for McCullyEstes lasted one and two-thirds innings, allowing five hits and five runs.

McCully collected eight hits on the day. Rylen YamamotoKaimanuwai (Bubba) Akana, and Alex Shiroma each had multiple hits for McCullyShiromaAkana, and Yamamoto each collected two hits to lead McCully.

Waialae tallied ten hits. Watase and AD Mols each racked up multiple hits for WaialaeWatase led Waialae with three hits in four at bats. Waialae was sure-handed and didn’t commit a single error. Tyler Nitahara made the most plays with 11.
