Two Pitchers Work Together As Waialae Shuts Out Manoa
Waialae defeated Manoa 10-0 on Sunday as two pitchers combined to throw a shutout. Kimo Wilinski struck out Ryan Sen to finish off the game.
Waialae got on the board in the first inning. Gavin Okada hit into a fielder’s choice, scoring one run.
Waialae scored five runs in the fourth inning. Waialae ‘s big bats in the inning were led by walks by Kyle Watase, Mark Okano, and Okada and a single by DJ Andrade.
One bright spot for Manoa was a single by Jonathan Sakurai in the second inning.
Jeremy Delacruz pitched Waialae to victory. The ace allowed one hit and zero runs over four innings, striking out four and walking one. Wilinski threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen.
Austin Sloan took the loss for Manoa. The bulldog surrendered six runs on four hits over three and two-thirds innings, striking out five.
Kaleb Nishijo led Waialae with two hits in three at bats.
Sakurai went 1-for-2 at the plate to lead Manoa in hits.
