Waialae Captures Lead Early To Defeat McCully
- McCully watched the game slip away early and couldn’t recover in a 17-7 loss to Waialae on Thursday. Waialae scored on a double by DJ Andrade in the first inning, a single by Drayson Ito in the second inning, a sacrifice fly by Brandon Robertsin the second inning, a single by Kainalu Pitoy in the second inning, and a single by Tyler Nitahara in the second inning.
- McCully collected 12 hits and Waialae had 18 in the high-scoring affair.
- In the bottom of the first inning, McCully tied things up at one. An error scored one run for McCully .
- Waialae pulled away for good with seven runs in the second inning. In the second Ito singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run, Andrade was hit by a pitch, driving in a run, Roberts‘s sac fly scored one run for Waialae , Pitoy singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run, and Nitahara singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring two runs.
- McCully put up four runs in the fourth inning. Troy Kakugawa, Colby Ho, and Jacob Wong all contributed in the big inning with RBIs.
- Waialae scored seven runs in the sixth inning. Waialae ‘s big inning was driven by doubles by Mark Okano and Pitoy, a triple by Andrade, and a single by David Chu.
- Okano led the Waialae to victory on the pitcher’s mound. He surrendered seven runs on 11 hits over six innings, striking out five. Ken Nakamoto threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen.
- Al Estes took the loss for McCully . He allowed 12 hits and ten runs over four and a third innings, striking out two and walking one.
