Sheridan won 17-6 over Ewa last night clinching the #3 Seed in the Town Division. With Sheridan’s win, Manoa is eliminated from playoff contention. Sheridan moves on to face #2 McCully in a 1 game Sudden Death Elimination game on Sunday March 3rd, 10am at Han L’Orange with the winner advancing to play #1 Waialae in a best 2 of 3 Town Championship series, starting on March 6.
Early Lead For Sheridan Seals Fate For Ewa
- Ewa fell behind early and couldn’t come back in a 17-6 loss to Sheridan on Wednesday. Sheridan scored on a triple by Kevin Matsumoto, a triple by Charlie Abing, and a sacrifice fly by Aron Okamoto in the first inning.
- Despite the loss, Ewa did collect ten hits in the high-scoring affair. Unfortunately, Sheridan had 13 hits on the way to victory.
- Sheridan got things moving in the first inning, when Matsumoto tripled on a 1-1 count, scoring two runs.
- Sheridan scored six runs in the sixth inning. The big inning for Sheridan came thanks to a walk by Rylen Kuboyama, a single by Reid Matsushima, an error on a ball put in play by Lanson Yamamoto, and a double by Hunter Fujitani.
- Eric Lum took the win for Sheridan . He allowed six hits and four runs over four innings, striking out five. Kuboyama and Matt Hara entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief.
- Ryan Murakami led things off on the hill for Ewa . He went three and a third innings, allowing six runs on eight hits, striking out four and walking one. Jarvis Nohara and Javin Nohara entered the game as relief, throwing two innings and one and two-thirds innings respectively.
- Ewa had ten hits in the game. David Nakamura and Carson Tsuruda all managed multiple hits for Ewa . Nakamura went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead Ewa in hits.
- Sheridan totaled 13 hits. Kuboyama and Kaiana Eldredge each managed multiple hits for Sheridan . Kuboyama led Sheridan with four hits in five at bats. Sheridan didn’t commit a single error in the field. Joey Maekawa had four chances in the field, the most on the team.
