#1 Waialae beat #2 Sheridan 3 – 1 in the Town Division Postseason 3rd Round at 7pm Wednesday, March 9, 2022 at Ala Wai & Advances to the Championship Series, starting on Sunday (March 13, 2022) 1pm at Ala Wai or Wednesday (March 16, 2022) 7pm at Ala Wai against the Winner of the Country Division Postseason 3rd Round between #1 Waipahu vs #3 Pearl City.
Waialae Defeats Sheridan In Pitcher’s Duel
Both teams were strong on the pitcher’s mound Wednesday night as Waialae defeated Sheridan 3-1. Waialae pitchers allowed just eight hits to Sheridan.
Jeremy Delacruz pitched Waialae to victory. The ace allowed six hits and one run over seven and a third innings, striking out seven. Josh Nakamura relieved Delacruz in the 8th inning & pitched out of a bases loaded 1 out jam without allowing a run. Nakamura threw one and two-thirds innings in relief out of the bullpen, recording the last five outs to earn the save for Waialae.
Aron Okamoto took the hard luck loss for Sheridan. The righthander pitched an eight inning complete game, allowing only 3 unearned runs on three hits while striking out five.
DJ Andrade, Mark Okano, and Kimo Wilinski each managed one hit to lead Waialae. Okano drove in all 3 Waialae runs with a 2 run bad hop single with 2 outs in the 5th inning and a 1 run fielder’s choice pop fly in the 7th inning.
Sheridan totaled eight hits. Blaine Hokama went 3 for 3 to lead Sheridan in hits while Josh Inaba and Brandon Roberts each paired hits.
