Waialae Claims Lead In Seventh Inning To Defeat Pearl City
Gavin Okada led Waialae to victory on the hill. The bulldog threw a 150 pitch complete game, surrendering four runs (none earned) on eight hits over nine innings, striking out six.
Waialae ran off with the lead late in the game in a 5-4 victory over Pearl City on Sunday. Waialae trailed 4-2 in the bottom of the seventh inning but scored 3 unearned runs culminating with Brandon Morimoto tripling on the first pitch of his at bat, driving in the tying and go ahead runs.
Pearl City scored three runs in the sixth inning to take the lead, but Waialae still managed to pull out the victory. The big inning for Pearl City came thanks to a sacrifice fly by Christopher Goya and a double by Davin Kapuras to drive in 2 runs.
Waialae got things started in the first inning. Gavin Okada doubled on a 2-0 count, scoring one run.
Unfortunate Daven Hermosura took the loss for Pearl City. The hurler surrendered three unearned runs on two hits over two innings, striking out two and walking zero.
