Waipahu Loses Lead Early In Defeat
- Waipahu watched the game slip away early and couldn’t recover in a 20-8 loss to Pearl City on Sunday. Pearl City scored on a double by Tyler Tokunaga, a single by Kip Masuda, a single by Allen Komori, and a walk by Rorry Nakayama in the first inning.
- PC’s Kip Masuda led the rout by homering twice early in the game, driving in 6 runs.
- Chevas Numata collected four hits in defeat. Numata singled in the first, singled in the third, doubled in the fourth, and singled in the sixth.
- Pearl City got things started in the first inning. Pearl City scored one run when Tokunaga doubled.
- Waipahu notched four runs in the fourth inning. The offensive onslaught came from singles by Derek Costigan and Zach Kometani, a groundout by Nelson Inabata, and a double by Numata.
- Pearl City scored nine runs in the third inning. Pearl City batters contributing to the big inning included Tokunaga, Masuda, Chad Takabuki, Jordan Oshiro, Tokunaga, and Chaunsey “Kale” Sumner, all sending runners across the plate with RBIs in the inning.
