Mililani Downs Waipahu, 6-2 in Battle of Unbeatens
Mililani scores more runs than Waipahu, takes victory on Thursday to the tune of 6-2
Mililani got things moving in the first inning. Ryne Yamashiro drove in one when Yamashiro singled.
Bronson Ichimura was the winning pitcher for Mililani. The fireballer lasted six innings, allowing six hits and one run while striking out five. Brennan Anzai and Kyle Matsuoka entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief. Matsuoka recorded the last three outs to earn the save for Mililani.
Kaipo Paiva started the game and took the loss for Waipahu. Paiva lasted two and two-thirds innings, allowing five hits and six runs while striking out one.
Mililani collected nine hits on the day. Landon Hakkei, CJ Ibara, and Chase Wago each managed multiple hits for Mililani. Hakkei went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead Mililani in hits. Mililani was sure-handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error. Dallas Chung had the most chances in the field with eight.
Waipahu racked up ten hits. Chevas Numata and Dylan Salcedo all collected multiple hits for Waipahu.
