Sheridan Claws Back, But Falls Just Short Against Manoa
Sheridan fought back after falling down by four runs in the fifth inning. The comeback fell just short though, in a 7-6 defeat to Manoa on Wednesday. Sheridan managed two runs in the failed comeback. Josh Inaba and Kreighton Tsuruda-Gaspar fueled the rally with RBIs.
Despite the loss, Sheridan did collect nine hits in the high-scoring affair. Unfortunately, Manoa had seven hits on the way to victory.
Sheridan got things started in the first inning. Sheridan scored one run when Tsuruda-Gaspar singled.
Manoa evened things up at two in the top of the third inning when Easton Torigoe drew a walk, scoring one run.
After Manoa scored one run in the top of the fifth, Sheridan answered with one of their own. Manoa scored when Bryson Nakamura drew a walk, scoring one run. Sheridan then answered when Inaba singled on a 1-0 count, scoring one run.
Manoa pulled away for good with four runs in the fourth inning. In the fourth Nicholas Tasaka singled on a 0-1 count, scoring one run, Nakamura singled on a 1-2 count, scoring one run, and an error scored two runs for Manoa.
Reece Kiriu earned the win for Manoa. The pitcher allowed seven hits and four runs over eight innings, striking out nine. Austin Sloan threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen. Sloan recorded the last three outs to earn the save for Manoa.
Kainoa Rallita took the loss for Sheridan. The hurler lasted four innings, allowing seven hits and seven runs while striking out two.
Tsuruda-Gaspar went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead Sheridan in hits.
Manoa tallied seven hits in the game. Tasaka and Nakamura each managed multiple hits for Manoa.
