Championship Tournament play continued with Game 5 on Thursday (2/27/25) at the Ala Wai as #2 Manoa battled #6 Kaneohe for 7 innings before breaking through with 7 runs in the 8th inning to win 13 to 3 by the 10 run rule and knock Kaneohe out of the Championship Tournament. Kaneohe struck first in the 1st inning scoring 1 run but Manoa quickly answered by scoring 3 in the bottom of the 1st. Manoa, led by starting pitcher JR Bunda, who earned the win with 7 strong innings allowing 3 runs on 7 hits while striking out 8, never surrendered the lead. Kaneohe battled throughout the game, led by the valiant effort of starting pitcher Kapono Chang, who kept Kaneohe in the game with the score close at 6 to 3 until the breakout 8th inning.
Manoa begins the long trek back through the Loser’s bracket as the Game 5 Winner advances to play #3 Sheridan on Sunday (March 2, 2025) 10am at the Ala Wai 1pm in a LOSER OUT ELIMINATION game (Game 6). Kaneohe has been eliminated from the Tournament with 2 losses.
Cody Isa’s Clutch Hitting Propels Manoa AJA 2024-25 To Victory Over Kaneohe AJA 2024-25

Cody Isa drove in four runs on four hits to lead Manoa AJA 2024-25 past Kaneohe AJA 2024-25 13-3 on Thursday at Ala Wai. Isa doubled in the eighth scoring two, doubled in the first scoring one, and singled in the fourth scoring one.
Manoa AJA 2024-25 scored seven runs in the eighth inning on the way to victory. Isa doubled, scoring two runs, Bryson Nakamura singled, scoring one run, an error scored two runs, and Reyce Kajiwara singled, scoring two runs.
Kaneohe AJA 2024-25 got on the board in the first inning after JR Bunda induced Seamus Yoneshige to hit into a fielder’s choice, but one run scored.
Manoa AJA 2024-25 jumped back into the lead in the bottom of the first inning after Isa doubled, Nakamura doubled to right field, and Kaneohe AJA 2024-25 committed an error, each scoring one run.
Bunda started the game for Manoa AJA 2024-25. The pitcher surrendered seven hits and three runs (two earned) over seven innings, striking out eight and walking two. Kapono Chang started on the mound for Kaneohe AJA 2024-25. The starting pitcher allowed 10 hits and nine runs (seven earned) over seven and one-third innings, striking out three and walking one. Ryan Ancheta pitched one inning of no-run ball for Manoa AJA 2024-25 in relief. The pitcher allowed zero hits, striking out one and walking none.
Manoa AJA 2024-25 collected 13 hits in the game. Trey Saito, Nakamura, and Brent Sakurai each collected multiple hits for Manoa AJA 2024-25. Manoa AJA 2024-25 turned one double play in the game.
Jensen Park led Kaneohe AJA 2024-25 with three hits in four at bats.
