Ewa Runs Away With Early Lead In Victory
Mililani watched the game slip away early and couldn’t recover in a 4-3 loss to Ewa on Wednesday. Ewa scored on an error and a single by Ryan Murakami in the second inning.
Mililani lost despite out-hitting Ewa ten to six.
After Ewa scored one run in the top of the fourth, Mililani answered with one of their own. Mililani then answered when Jarvis Nohara induced Hunter Kirihara to hit into a fielder’s choice, but one run scored.
Ewa pulled away for good with three runs in the second inning. In the second an error scored one run for Ewa and Murakami singled on a 2-2 count, scoring one run.
Nohara was the winning pitcher for Ewa. The bulldog allowed ten hits and three runs over eight innings, striking out seven, pitching a rare complete game victory.
Kyle Matsuoka took the loss for Mililani. The pitcher surrendered three runs on two hits over two innings, striking out one.
Mililani racked up ten hits in the game. Jaydon Arakawa, Matt Matsuda, and Jensen Kim all collected multiple hits for Mililani. Kim, Matsuda, and Arakawa each collected two hits to lead Mililani.
Kelly Teramoto led Ewa with two hits in four at bats.
