Manoa Nabs Win Over Pearl City Despite Early 5-Run Inning
Pearl City scored five runs in the fourth inning, but Manoa still won 12-9 on Wednesday. The offensive onslaught by Pearl City was led by Tyler Tokunaga, Christopher Goya, Austyn Nagamine, and Davin Kapuras, all sending runners across the plate with RBIs in the inning.
Both pitching staffs had their hands full, frequently dealing with runners on base. Manoa collected 11 hits and Pearl City had three.
Manoa took an early lead in the first inning. Ryan Sen drew a walk, scoring one run.
Manoa took the lead for good with six runs in the third inning. In the third Sen drew a walk, scoring one run, Easton Takamoto singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring two runs, Colin Sakamoto doubled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring two runs, and Casey Isa singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run.
Lyle Shimata earned the victory on the pitcher’s mound for Manoa . The pitcher allowed one hit and zero runs over two-thirds of an inning, walking zero. Kulia Neal and Zachary Won entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief.
Cory Yuh took the loss for Pearl City. The bulldog surrendered seven runs on four hits over two and a third innings, striking out one.
