Ewa Captures Lead Early To Defeat McCully
McCully watched the game slip away early and couldn’t recover in a 7-3 loss to Ewa on Wednesday. Ewa scored on a fielder’s choice by Kodey Shojinaga in the first inning and a sacrifice fly by Reid Goto in the second inning.
Ewa got on the board in the first inning when Al Estes induced Shojinaga to hit into a fielder’s choice, but one run scored.
Ewa scored three runs in the third inning. Ewa ‘s big inning was driven by a sac fly by Noah Kubo and an error on a ball put in play by Javin Nohara.
Kubo was the winning pitcher for Ewa. The hurler allowed one hit and zero runs over two and two-thirds innings, striking out six and walking one. David Nakamura, Ryan Murakami, and Karter Wong all put in work in relief out of the bullpen, steering their team towards the victory.
Estes took the loss for McCully. The hurler allowed three hits and two runs over two innings, striking out one and walking one.
Coen Goeas started the game for Ewa. The pitcher went two innings, allowing zero runs on one hit and striking out two
Chaz Kagimoto, Reece Kadota, and Rylen Yamamoto each collected one hit to lead McCully.
Kelly Teramoto led Ewa with two hits in three at bats.
