Waipahu Clinches Lead In Fifth Inning To Defeat Waialae
Waipahu defeated Waialae 8-7 on Sunday after taking the lead late in the game. The game was tied at seven with Waipahu batting in the bottom of the fifth when Kaiana Eldredge drew a walk, scoring one run.
Both offenses were strong at the plate as Waipahu collected eight hits and Waialae seven in the high-scoring affair.
Waialae got things moving in the first inning, when Kyle Watase doubled on a 0-1 count, scoring two runs.
In the bottom of the fourth inning, Waipahu tied things up at seven. Dylan Salcedo drew a walk, scoring one run.
Waipahu put up three runs in the third inning. Salcedo and Logan Salcedo all contributed in the big inning with RBIs.
Shaun Kiriu took the win for Waipahu. The hurler allowed two hits and two runs over five and two-thirds innings, striking out five.
Hunter Belmodis took the loss for Waialae. The hurler surrendered two runs on two hits over two innings, striking out six.
Mark Okano started the game for Waialae. The pitcher went three innings, allowing six runs on five hits and striking out three David Torigoe started the game for Waipahu. The ace went one and one-third innings, allowing five runs on five hits and striking out three
Waipahu tallied eight hits on the day. Revan Wong, Salcedo, and Salcedo each collected multiple hits for Waipahu. Salcedo, Salcedo, and Wong all had two hits to lead Waipahu.
AD Mols led Waialae with two hits in four at bats. Waialae was sure-handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error. Isaac Ahokovi had the most chances in the field with eight.
