Pearl City Loses Lead Early In Defeat
Pearl City fell behind early and couldn’t come back in an 8-2 loss to Sheridan on Sunday. Sheridan scored on a stolen base by Asher Ginoza in the second inning, a sacrifice fly by Kreighton Tsuruda-Gaspar in the third inning, and a fielder’s choice by Lanson Yamamoto in the third inning.
Pearl City struggled to contain the high-powered offense of Sheridan, giving up eight runs.
In the top of the second inning, Sheridan tied things up at one when Sheridan scored one run on a stolen base.
After Sheridan scored one run in the top of the ninth, Pearl City answered with one of their own. Sheridan pulled away for good with two runs in the third inning. In the third Tsuruda-Gaspar‘s sac fly scored one run for Sheridan and Randen Kohagura induced Yamamoto to hit into a fielder’s choice, but one run scored.
Sheridan scored three runs in the sixth inning. Sheridan big bats were led by Joey Maekawa and Brandon Roberts, who each had RBIs in the inning.
Landon Hakkei took the win for Sheridan. The hurler surrendered zero runs on two hits over two innings, striking out one and walking one. Kainoa Rallita threw three innings in relief out of the bullpen. Rallita recorded the last nine outs to earn the save for Sheridan.
Kohagura took the loss for Pearl City. Kohagura went two innings, allowing two runs on three hits, striking out one and walking one.
Tanner Inouye started the game for Pearl City. The bulldog allowed one hit and one run over two innings, striking out three. Aron Okamoto started the game for Sheridan. The righty went four innings, allowing one run on two hits and striking out four
Tyson Murakami went 2-for-5 at the plate to lead Pearl City in hits.
Sheridan saw the ball well today, racking up 12 hits in the game. Roberts, Tsuruda-Gaspar, Kai Yasuda, Maekawa, and Jacob Maekawa each had multiple hits for Sheridan. Roberts led Sheridan with three hits in five at bats.
