Pearl City Grabs Lead In Eighth Inning To Defeat Waipahu
- Pearl City defeated Waipahu 9-7 on Thursday after taking the lead late in the game. The game was tied at seven with Pearl City batting in the bottom of the eighth when an error scored two runs for Pearl City .
- Pearl City built a five-run lead in the second inning and then held off Waipahu ‘s charge. Waipahu managed seven runs in the failed comeback. Kaiana Eldredge, Rayson Romero, Zach Kometani, Keenan Sue, and Justin Protacio each picked up RBIs.
- Pearl City got things started in the first inning when Todd Takabuki singled on a 0-1 count, scoring two runs.
- Takabuki led the Pearl City to victory on the pitcher’s mound. He allowed two hits and zero runs over one and two-thirds innings, striking out four and walking zero. Nolan Kometani threw one and two-thirds innings in relief out of the bullpen.
- Chevas Numata took the loss for Waipahu . He surrendered four runs on one hit over one inning, walking one.
- Daven Hermosura started the game for Pearl City . He surrendered four runs on nine hits over five and two-thirds innings, striking out seven Kahana Neal started the game for Waipahu . He surrendered five runs on five hits over seven innings, striking out nine
- Christopher Goya led Pearl City with two hits in four at bats.
