Ewa Loses Lead Early in Defeat
- Ewa fell behind early and couldn’t come back in a 10-7 loss to Pearl City on Sunday. Pearl City scored on a double by Wade Tamaru in the first inning and a single by Rorry Nakayama in the second inning.
- Despite the loss, Ewa did collect 13 hits in the high-scoring affair. Unfortunately, Pearl City had 14 hits on the way to victory.
- In the bottom of the first inning, Ewa tied things up at two when Javin Nohara lined out, driving in a run.
- Pearl City pulled away for good with one run in the second inning. In the second Nakayama singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run.
- Ewa tallied four runs in the sixth inning. The offensive firepower by Ewa was led by Reid Goto, Shawn Saito, and Nohara, all sending runners across the plate with RBIs in the inning.
- Pearl City scored four runs in the third inning. Kulia Neal, Kevin Fujioka, Nakayama, and Tyler Tokunaga all drove in runs in the frame.
- Daven Hermosura led the Pearl City to victory on the pitcher’s mound. He surrendered seven runs on 13 hits over seven innings, striking out three.
- David Nakamura was on the hill for Ewa He lasted seven innings, allowing 14 hits and ten runs while striking out four.
- Ewa totaled 13 hits in the game. Saito, Goto, Carson Tsuruda, and Colby Kagawa all managed multiple hits for Ewa Saito went 3-for-5 at the plate to lead Ewa AJA 2018-19 in hits.
- Pearl City tallied 14 hits on the day. Nakayama, Todd Takabuki, Neal, and Tamaru all had multiple hits for Pearl City Nakayama led Pearl City with three hits in four at bats. Pearl City didn’t commit a single error in the field. Allen Komori had seven chances in the field, the most on the team.
