Early Lead For Waialae Sets Stage For Victory Over Sheridan
Waialae defeated Sheridan 12-9 thanks to a strong start. Waialae scored on a groundout by Brandon Roberts in the first inning, a single by Davin Morita in the first inning, and a home run by Kyle Watase in the second inning.
Sheridan scored six runs in the seventh inning, but Waialae still managed to pull out the victory. The offensive onslaught by Sheridan was led by Charlie Abing , Lanson Yamamoto , Aron Okamoto , Reid Matsushima , and Lee Matsuzaki , all sending runners across the plate with RBIs in the inning.
Waialae notched five runs in the fifth inning. The offensive onslaught came from singles by AD Mols and DJ Andrade , a triple by Roberts , and a fielder’s choice by Watase .
Morita toed the rubber for Waialae . He surrendered three runs on eight hits over four innings, striking out seven and walking one.
Rylen Kuboyama was on the mound for Sheridan . He allowed ten hits and seven runs over four innings, striking out three and walking zero. Eric Lum and Randy Tabura entered the game as relief, throwing one and one-third innings and two-thirds of an inning respectively.
Waialae smacked one home run on the day. Watase had a four bagger in the second inning.
Waialae tallied 15 hits in the game. Andrade , Drayson Ito , Watase , and Mols all managed multiple hits for Waialae . Andrade went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead Waialae in hits.
Sheridan totaled 11 hits in the game. Matsuzaki , Jason Takamoto , Yamamoto , and Abing all collected multiple hits for Sheridan . Matsuzaki led Sheridan four hits in four at bats. Sheridan was sure-handed and didn’t commit a single error. Kaiana Eldredge made the most plays with seven.
