Waipahu Nabs Win Over Ewa Despite Early 3-Run Inning
- Waipahu weathered a scare by Ewa in the seventh inning where Waipahu coughed up three runs, but Waipahu still won 7-4 on Thursday. Ewa batters contributing to the big inning included Bryce Onaga, Jonah Chinen, and Ryan Murakami, all driving in runs in the inning.
- Waipahu opened up scoring in the first inning. An error scored one run for Waipahu
- Ewa evened things up at one in the top of the second inning. Ewa scored one run when Onaga doubled.
- Waipahu pulled away for good with three runs in the fourth inning. In the fourth Derek Costigan singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring two runs and Jarvis Nohara‘s wild pitch allowed one run to score for Waipahu
- Waipahu put up three runs in the fifth inning. Chace Numata, Revan Wong, and Austin Inabata all moved runners across the plate with RBIs in the inning.
- Shaun Kiriu got the start for Waipahu He surrendered one run on three hits over six innings, striking out eight and walking one.
- Nohara toed the rubber for Ewa He allowed three hits and four runs over three and two-thirds innings, striking out four and walking zero. Adam Inaba and David Nakamura entered the game from the bullpen, throwing one and one-third innings and one inning respectively.
