The Hawaii AJA Memorial Baseball League opened its season on Sunday, December 13 with a triple header. Five teams make up the league this season. There are the two Big Island Baseball teams: the Hawaiians, managed by Mark Ishii; and Mana, managed by Brian Silva and Shannon Ochi. They join defending champion Keaukaha Warriors managed and coached by Chad Canda and Troy Fujii, the Waiakea Pirates managed and coached by Jimmy Miyake and Clyde Nishioka and the Corsairs managed and coached by Hito Oshiro and Dennis Sagawa.
The officers are led by President Royden Okunmai, Vice-President Curtis Chong, Secretary Sadao Aoki assisted by Debbie Ota, Treasurer Charles Takahashi, and our new league manager Wally Oki assisted by Karen Chaves. Our directors are Russell Arikawa, Randy Hirokawa, Warren Miyasaki, Lenore Van Gieson-Serrao, Harry Suzuki, Rodney Sakamoto and Glenn Uekawa. Hawaii AJA Memorial Baseball League will be hosting the 81st State AJA Championship Tournament on April 9-10, 2016 at Wong Stadium in Hilo, Hawaii.
Opening ceremonies ,featuring longtime Hawaii AJA Memorial official Sadao Aoki throwing out the first pitch, will be at Wong Stadium, Sunday, December 20 following the first 9 a.m. game. Sundays games will be 9 a.m. Warriors v. Corsairs, 11:30 a.m. BIB Hawaiians v. Corsairs and 2 p.m. BIB Mana v. Pirates.
